一応、解決法（？）書いときます。同じような現象がおこる方試してみてください。

userconf.exeの「画像キャッシュ制限」を「キャッシュを行わない」にする。

「CPU機能」の所を全て「使用可能であっても使用しない」にする。

以上で自分のは動くようになりました、これやっても動かなかったらすいません。

XPや2000ではアプリケーション側のエラーでOS自体が落ちるということはほとんど考えられないため、ドライバ周りで不具合が発生しているのが原因だと思われます。
上記の対処でもダメなようでしたら、最終的な手段ですが、Windowsの再インストールを行ってみてください。

いつ/どのような操作で発生しますか？:
2日前－プロローグの「十年間片時も忘れなかったそのイベントは、あと少しで始まろうとしているのだから―」のメッセージが表示されているときクリックすると再起動する。

HashCheckerを使っても異常は無く、設定もいろいろ試しましたが、必ず上記の位置で再起動が起こります。念のためアンインストール後に再インストールも試しましたが同じ状態です。ログファイルは無いようです。

※メモリ量に応じて多少時間がかかります。
※２～３回全テストを行うことで精度の高い結果が得られますが、負荷が高く熱を持ちやすいので、繰り返し過ぎるのはお勧めいたしません。

　一番最初の書き込みと同じように、進行状態に関わりなく何も表示されずに音が止まって、その後にフリーズするんですが、止まる確率が極端に減って割と快適にプレイ出来るようになったので、とりあえずこのまま我慢する事にします。色々とありがとうございました。

　急に音が止まってゲームが止まり、動かせなくなります。場面が変わるときにも止まったりします。過去ログを参考にオプションで設定を変更してみましたが、駄目でした。

いつ/どのような操作で発生しますか？:
　
　ゲームを始めてから十分～一時間位で音楽が止まり、動かなくなります。また、十分ほどプレイすると、セーブをしようとしても止まる時があります。それらをctrl＋alt＋delで強制的に消した後は、再びゲームを起動しても途中で止まり、デスクトップの何か他のアイコンをクリックしても開かず、再起動する羽目になります。
